Import of Virgin Edible Vegetable Oil Needs Quarantine Certificate
[2010-07-12 16:00:48]
It is learned that the department of entry-exit inspection and quarantine under the Zhong Shan Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau of P. R. China has strengthened its supervision and control on the importation of olive oil. Relevant enterprises in Zhongshan shall know that the importation of virgin edible vegetable oil shall provide plant quarantine certificate.
In order to ensure the quality safety of the imported olive oil, the department of entry-exit inspection and quarantine under the Zhong Shan Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau of P. R. China recently strengthened its supervision and control on the importation of olive oil. According to relevant stipulations, “in the case of importing virgin edible vegetable oil, the enterprises shall provide plant quarantine certificates issued by relevant animal and plant quarantine authorities of the exporting countries or local governments during the customs declaration, and specify in the contracts. Where no official plant quarantine certificates issued by the exporting countries are provided, such imports shall all be returned or destroyed.” Recently, an enterprise in Zhongshan is now going through relevant procedures for not claiming for the exporter’s plant quarantine certificate during the importation of olive oil due to its unfamiliarity with the law.
Zhong Shan Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau of P. R. China reminds enterprises with the intention to import virgin edible vegetable oil that, they shall get the plant quarantine certificates issued by relevant animal and plant quarantine authorities of the exporting countries or local governments in advance so as to avoid unnecessary losses.
