China Revises Import-Tax Exemption for Sci.-Tech. Development, Research & Education Goods

Approved by China's State Council, three China's authorities including the Ministry of Finance (MOF), the General Administration of Customs (GAC) and the State Administration of Taxation (SAT) have jointly made the decision to revise some articles in China's Provisional Regulations on Import-Tax Exemption for Import Goods for Science & Technology Development and its Regulations on Import-Tax Exemption for Import Goods for Scientific Research & Education, and to promulgate such revisions with the MOF-GAC-SAT Decree No. 63, 2011.

1. Revision of the Provisional Regulations on Import-Tax Exemption for Import Goods for Science & Technology Development as follows:

(1) The "prior to December 31, 2010" in Article 2 thereof shall be changed to "prior to December 31, 2015".

(2) The No. 2 item in the List of Goods Tax-Free Imported for Science & Technology Development annexed therein shall be changed to "(2) Scientific experimental equipment essential for scientific research and technology development (except the equipment used for pilot plant tests and for production)".

2. Revision of the Regulations on Import-Tax Exemption for Import Goods for Scientific Research & Education as follows:

The No. 2 item in the List of Goods Tax-Free Imported for Scientific Research & Education annexed therein shall be changed to "(2) Scientific experimental equipment essential for scientific research and education (except the equipment used for pilot plant tests and for production)".

The decision for such revisions herein shall come into force as of January 1, 2011.
