GACC Announcement 44, 2011 for Special Safeguard on NZ Agric. Products

Announcement No. 44, 2011 of the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC)

In accordance with the New Zealand-China Free Trade Agreement (hereinafter referred to as the Agreement), China implements special safeguard measures on agricultural products originating in New Zealand (NZ) under 11 HS Codes.

On June 27, 2011, the GACC released on its external website (www.customs.gov.cn) that the import quantity of cheese (HS Codes 04061000, 04063000, and 04069000) under the special safeguard measures had approached this year's trigger level for the special safeguards.

As the declared imports of aforesaid products have reached 4,256.06 tons up to July 1, 2011, exceeding this year's triggering level of 4,167 tons, China is to levy import tariff at the Most-Favored-Nation rates as from July 2, 2011 on the aforesaid agricultural products originating in New Zealand under the Agreement.

In addition, tariff rates applicable to such products en-route for imports and other relevant issues shall be implemented in accordance with the provisions set forth in the GACC Announcement No. 91, 2008.
