GACC Announcement No. 11, 2012 for Special Safeguard on NZ Butter/Fat/Oils

Announcement No. 11, 2012 of the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC)

According to China-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement, China conducts special safeguard measures against 11 HS Codes-covered agricultural products originating in New Zealand (NZ).

On March 5, 2012, the GACC published on its website(www.customs.gov.cn) the import quantity nearing the special safeguard-triggering level for 2012 regarding the butter and other fat/oils extracted from milk (HS Codes 04051000 and 04059000) from New Zealand.

Up to March 14, 2012, the agricultural products aforesaid have been imported at declared 11,550.58 tons, outnumbering 2012's special safeguard-triggering 11,426 tons; so, from March 15, 2012, import duties shall be levied at Most-Favored-Nation rates on such import agricultural products belonging to the China-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement.

Regarding the duties on in-transit imports and other matters, GACC Announcement No. 91, 2008 prevails.
