China's HK, Italy Enhance Customs Cooperation

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and Italy signed a work plan on cooperation against contravention of customs laws in Hong Kong.

At the signing ceremony, Commissioner of Customs and Excise of Hong Kong Richard Yuen said the pact signifies the Hong Kong and Italy's commitment and determination to combat transitional smuggling and other criminal activities.

"It also marks our common wish to cooperate more closely in the fight against smuggling activities through an effective framework," he said.

Hong Kong has so far signed similar arrangements with 15 customs administrations, including General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China.
