Pakistan to Reduce Import Tariff on Solar Energy Equipments

According to a report on July 4, 2010 from the Pakistani Business Recorder, Federal Minister for Environment of Pakistan, Mr. Afridi, said recently while attending a conference of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), the Pakistani Government is to reduce the import tariff on solar energy equipments by 6.25% to 75% so as to promote the generalization and utilization of such equipments and speed up resolution of the current power shortage in Pakistan.

The decision shall come into force after being approved and passed by the economic coordination council under the Pakistani Cabinet, the report said.
