China lifted bans on poultry and poultry product imports from two U.S. states, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said in a statement published on its website on December 13, 2010, about two years after bird flu was found in one of the states.
Import bans affecting the products from Idaho and Kentucky were lifted after the United States reported to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) bird flu in the two states had been eliminated, according to the statement issued jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture.
China had banned poultry and poultry product imports from the two states in late 2008 and early 2009, respectively, after bird flu outbreaks there.
