Mexico Removes Anti-Dumping Duties on Footwear Products from China

Tariff on footwear products made in China, including garment, other consumption and durable goods from China as well, will be reduced as ordinary tariff from December 12, 2012.

All of the Mexican footwear associations have repeatedly called on the government to continuously take measures to resist dumping on products from China in the past 2 years. From April 1993, footwear products from China were imposed anti-dumping duties. From October 15, 2008, it was changed to high tariff during the transitional period, which is lower than anti-dumping duties. The Mexican footwear industry has been protected by the government for 19 years till the high tariff removed on December 12, 2012, but no obvious improvement of this industry during this period.

The reason of this case is that Mexico removed anti-dumping duties on 935 kinds of products from Chinese mainland from October 15, 2008, including bicycle, bicycle tire and tube, shoes, parts, etc.
