The U.S. Takes AD Probe on Chinese Xanthan Gums

Reported by www.chinanews.com, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced on June 26 starting an antidumping (AD) probe on Xanthan Gums imported from China, their dumping margin currently affirmed to be 154.07%.

Xanthan Gums, reputed as an "industrial condiment", can be used as a thickener for ice creams, salad dressings, fruit jellies, etc.

As per the Department’s schedule, the U.S. International Trade Commission will make a preliminary ruling for the case around July 20. If material injury is affirmed, the antidumping probe will go on; otherwise, it will end.

According to the Department’s statistics, xanthan gums from China totaled 15,000 tons in 2011, up 87% from 2009, value at USD 64 million.

Up to this May, the U.S. has levied 285 antidumping and anti-subsidy duties, with 115 therein on China-made products, making up 40% of its all "double-anti" duties.
