The adoption of the single customs tariff of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan does not mean the complete unification of the customs duties of the three countries, Deputy Head of the Belarus State Customs Committee Sergei Borisiuk said during an online conference hosted by BelTA on April 29.

"I would not say that the creation of the single customs tariff means the complete unification of customs duties of the three countries. I would not say that categorically. There are some exceptions," Sergei Borisiuk noted.

As for a possible increase of customs duties on imported cars to the one valid in Russia, he noted that "they might or might not be increased". As an example, Sergei Borisiuk cited the Kaliningrad oblast of Russia where the customs duties on used cars imported by natural persons are significantly lower than in the rest of Russia.

"There are some mechanisms which help the sides take into consideration their interests. What mechanism would be taken as a basis, is an issue for negotiations," the official added.
