Vietnam Takes Tariff Quotas Measures in Administration of Merchandised Salt

According to a report on May 25, 2010 from a Vietnam's economic newspaper, the Viet Nam's Ministry of Industry and Trade recently issued a Notice to adjust the import regulations on merchandised salt so as to serve for the production and sales of the Vietnamese market. As per the Notice, as of June 1, 2010, enterprises with import license of merchandised salt shall import such salt in accordance with the tariff quota, and the HS Codes for merchandised salt are: 2501.00.90.90; 2501.00.41.20; 2501.00.49.20 and so on. Beyond the tariff quota, the importers of the merchandised salt shall, before contracts are signed, get the approval from Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
