The Argentine government said on July 13 that it will impose provisional anti-dumping taxes on imported Brazilian compressors priced lower than those in the local market.

Gas compressors with screws made in Brazil will also be taxed, said a statement from the Industry Ministry.

"The decision is based on the technical reports of the National Commission of Exterior Commerce, which determined that the dumping imports from Brazil caused significant damages to the national production," the ministry added.

The provisional taxes will be valid for six months and their rates will be 38 percent of the product value.

"Consumption of these imports made in Brazil reached 53 percent in the Argentine market, displacing the sale of the national production, which was lowered by 27 percent," the ministry said.
