Argentina to Raise Import Tariff on Capital Goods to 14%

According to a report on August 9, 2010 from an Argentine finance newspaper, to promote the development of domestic equipment industry, the Ministry of Industry of Argentina is working on a new round of industrial revitalization policies and is planning to raise the import tariff on capital goods outside the South-American Common Market to 14% as of the next year.

At present, the Argentine Government implements a tariff deduction policy equivalent to 14% of the selling price of capital goods. The preferential policy will expire on December 31, 2010.
