Vietnam to Raise Import Tariffs on More than 100 Commodities

Vietnam's Ministry of Finance recently issued a Notice on the adjustment of part of preferential import duties in the table of preferential import duties.
According to the Notice, import tariffs on 111 kinds of commodities will be raised, formally coming into effect as of Oct. 23, 2010.
Therein, the import tariffs on meat & its products will be raised to 14% from 10%; that on chocolate products and products containing raw materials of cocoa will be raised to 24%; that on noodles and silk noodles products will be raised to 38%; that on processed tomato products will be raised to 34%; that on lots of fruit juice products will be raised to 37% from 29%; that on kitchen ware products will be raised to 27% from 18%; that on some daily necessities will be raised to 30% from 5%; that on air-conditioners will be raised to 27%; that on vacuum cleaners will be raised to 31%; and that on wooden furniture will be raised to 29%.
