Russia to Largely Raise Consumption Tax on Wine and Tobacco

As reported by media like the RIA Novosti and the RBC daily, on Dec. 1, 2010, Russian President Medvedev signed a tax amendment, adjusting the tax rates and taxation methods of consumption tax on wine and tobacco from 2011 to 2013.

In accordance with the amendment, as from 2011, Russian consumption tax on tobacco will be raised by 30%-40% every year, and that on wine will be raised by 10%.
