EU Proposes to Cancel Import Tariff on 92 Kinds of Resource Products

It is said that the cancel of import tariff on 27 kinds of resource products, initiated by Italy's non-ferrous metals association ASSOMET, has increased to 92 kinds including aluminum, zinc, iron, molybdenum, silicon, chromium, manganese, etc.

The ASSOMET admitted that there were divergences among inner members. But the Minor Metal Association of Trade (MMAT) and the European Commission are now discussing on the future markets affected by zero tariff, but no results have been issued.

It is revealed that the European Commission is now having discussions on agreements of expanding the resource products from current 27 kinds to 92 kinds. But it is still not clear whether all of the 92 kinds of products will be totally supported by all of the member countries. Now Italy, Czech Republic and Sweden have shown their agreements on this proposal, while France, Germany and Spain make objections, which may be caused by their concerns on local relevant industries.

It is analyzed by some experts that part of the resource products mentioned in this proposal may be passed, while other sensitive products are little possible to be approved.
