Algeria to Cancel Tariff Preference on 36 Kinds of Agricultural Products from EU

Recently, the Algerian Government has decided to cancel tariff preferences on 36 kinds of agricultural products from the EU from January 1, 2011. Before this, all these products enjoy tariff preferences from 20% to 100%.

In addition, Algeria is now having negotiation with the EU on the time of establishing free trade area. Algeria expects to postpone the originally set years of 2012, 2015 and 2017 for gradually removing trade barriers to the years of 2015, 2017 and 2020, and postpone the time of building up the EU-Algeria Free Trade Area to the year of 2020 accordingly.

Algeria also expects to have negotiation with the EU on a negative list of import tariff collection and payment on 1,740 kinds of industrial products.
