Ukraine: Zero Import Duties for Buckwheat

Viktor Yanukovych, President of Ukraine, signed the Law of Ukraine #3086-VI "On the temporary tax assessment method for import operations of buckwheat groats", declared the press-cutting service of the head of the State on March 17. The document comes into force on the following day.

The document imposes zero import duties for buckwheat groats till June 1, 2011.

The first vessel with cargo of 504 tonnes of Chinese buckwheat groats is expected to come to Odessa, Ukraine, on April 5, declared the press service of State Food Grain Corporation of Ukraine.

Within frames of the contract of Khleb Investbud Ltd., commercial subsidiary of State Food Grain Corporation, with companies of the People's Republic of China, Ukraine will import 2 thsd tonnes of buckwheat groats of Chinese origin in March 2011, and 2 thsd tonnes – in April 2011. Ukraine plans to import 20 thsd tonnes of buckwheat groats from China.

The retail price of buckwheat groats on the domestic market will not exceed the level of 18.99 UAH/kg.
