On February 10, 2012, the United States International Trade Commission released a notice on making preliminary anti-dumping and anti-subsidy rulings on large domestic washing machines originating from South Korea and Mexico, ruling that dumping and subsidy of the involved products have caused material injury to U.S. local industries.

According to the affirmative rulings, the U.S. Department of Commerce will continue the investigation into involved products and make preliminary two-anti rulings respectively on March 24 and June 7, 2012.

On January 19, 2012, appealed by Whirlpool Corporation, the Department decided to launch the anti-dumping investigation into large domestic washing machines from Mexico and South Korea and the anti-subsidy investigation into those from South Korean, which are under HS codes 84501100.40, 84501100.80, 84502000.90, 84509020.00 and 84509060.00.

The appealer requested 31.03%-82.41% antidumping duties and micro-scale anti-subsidy duties on South Korean products, and 27.21%-72.41% antidumping duties on Mexican products.
