Russia Likely to Lower Appliance Fittings Import Duties ASAP

Reportedly, Russia will lower import duties from 15% to 10% on gas ranges and washing machines in 2015 and those from 13% to 7% on fittings for home electric appliances in 2017.

However, recently, Russian association of home appliances requested the authority to lower the import duties on home appliance fittings ahead of schedule (as from 2012).

At present, the association's proposal is under consideration. As relevant officials say, it's much likely to lower the fitting duties in advance as Russian appliance makers are heavily dependent on importing fittings.
