Russia to Levy 10% Duty on Import Computers
[2012-04-27 15:04:59]
According to Russian paper of April 26, Russian customs authority indicated that Russia will levy an import duty at 10% on desktop computers (except laptops).
At present, the country gives zero duty to computer imports.
In 2011, it imported 13 million computers, up 13% year-on-year, and assembled 140,000 computers during January-September, up 18% year-on-year.
Analysts do not think Russia can make the taxation measure long implemented as it is a Customs Union member and to join the WTO.
