Russia Cuts Automobile Import Duties

Reported by Russian automobile website, Russia has started new import duties on automobiles since August 23, 2012.

Following its access to the WTO, Russia has cut down the duty rates from 30% to 25% for importing new autos, valid for the next 3 years.

Till 2019, its auto import duties will gradually reduce to 15%. The autos with over 2.8-liter displacement will be given 12.5% duty rate, and the SUVs with 3.5-4.2 liter displacement will have 10% duty rate.

For the autos not elder than 7 years, their duty rate will drop to 25% and to 20% in 2018; for those elder than 7 years, their import duties will remain at the rate of 2.2-2.8 Euros per cubic centimeter of engine capacity.
