Mexico AD Probe on Cold-Rolled Steel Sheets from S. Korea

On October 1, Mexico's economy ministry announced that it will take an antidumping (AD) probe into South Korean cold-rolled non-gilded steel sheets not less than 600mm wide and not more than 3mm thick.

On July 6, Mexican Ternium company complained to Mexican UPCI bureau that the dumping of cold-rolled steel sheets from South Korea has inflicted a big loss on domestic steel enterprises. Thus, the UPCI bureau plans to hold a hearing and make its ruling in next June.

At present, the South Korean products account for about 50% of Mexican-imported cold-rolled steel sheets. Along with a 3% duty on formerly duty-free steel imports, the antidumping probe is considered another trade protectionist measure.
